Workout Matchmaker: I Want to Be More Flexible

"Workout Matchmaker" is designed to help you get the most out of our group-fitness program: In each column, we'll take a specific wellness goal and outline a few classes that you can take to meet this goal.

Here, we take a common wellness goals: getting flexible. We all know that flexibility is our body's ability to execute its full range of motion. You may realize that flexibility is important in all of our day-to-day activities -- even walking -- but it's often the hardest element of fitness for us to achieve. Some people think flexibility just comes naturally, but like all fitness goals, it's something we can attain with time, effort and focus, so let's go to the workout matchmaker....

Stretch those muscles

To get flexible, we need to build stretching into all of our exercise routines, including strength training and cardio exercises. By doing so, we can improve the condition of our muscles, joints and overall health. That being said, yoga is an effective way to complement your exercise routine for greater flexibility.

Start with Fly Yoga®

Offered throughout the week, this class is our exclusive style of suspension yoga that combines of traditional yoga techniques, acrobatics, gymnastics and dance. Using our silk hammocks you can move deeper into yoga postures to improve your balance, strength and flexibility. "Most people go to the gym because they want to achieve a specific fitness goal," says George Deoudes, a personal trainer and group-fitness instructor. "They want to build muscle, they want to lose body fat or they hope to get lean and tone for an upcoming special event, but many of them aren't sure how to get started. That's why we're here to help!"
